Nicknamed the 'Nature Isle of the Caribbean', Dominica in the Lesser Antilles is known for its unspoiled natural beauty. The island features lush green forests and diverse species of plants and animals. Historically occupied by native tribes, Dominica, today, comprises a multi-ethnic variety of people.
The Dominican economy is largely dependant on its tourism sector. The other important economic sector of the region includes agriculture. This sector produces tobacco, citrus, copra, bay oil, bananas, coconuts, root crops, cocoa, grapefruit etc. Most of these products are the export commodities of Dominica. The industrial sector of the region produces cement blocks, shoes, soap and furniture.
