The Kingdom of Tonga consists of 169 islands and is the only archipelago in the South Pacific Ocean. The islands are also known as Friendly Islands and are located on south of Samoa and east of Fiji. The manufacturing sector includes handicrafts and several very small-scale industries contribute about 3% of total GDP. The remittances from Tongans who live abroad heavily support Tonga's economy.
People living in rural parts rely on plantation and agriculture for livelihood. Telecommunication and satellite services also offer various jobs in Tonga. Other two small but growing sectors are construction and real estate causing increase in employment.
