India's youngest CEOs - Sindhuja Rajamaran


At 14 Sindhuja Rajamaran is the World’s youngest CEO

At any age when other teenagers are busy attending school, taking private tuitions and socialising on the automated online networks, one would see Sindhuja Rajamaran working animatedly from early morn till late in the evening. Sindhuja Rajamaran has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as India’s youngest CEO. She is barely 17 and already the head honcho of an animation enterprise called Seppan (based in Chennai) which she incorporated when she was only 14 years old.

In August 2013, she had graced a conference of AIMA (All India Management Association) in Lucknow where she was the principal speaker in the ultimate session. In her keynote address, she advised young men and women to pursue their dreams with all the fire in their hearts and not rest till they accomplished the same. She was oozing self-confidence when she gave a poignant account how she went on to become the country’s youngest digital caricaturist and 2D animator from just an unassuming and simple schoolgirl.

She never forgets to acknowledge that it was her father Mr. Rajamaran who instructed her on the basics of animations and caricatures and how to relate the same with the digital media. Her father who was employed as a health inspector for 21 years with the Tamil Nadu government is a consummate caricaturist and animator. He coaches budding animators via his company-Oscar Animations and Multimedia.

The animation enterprise-Seppan that Sindhuja founded in 2010 now has five employees who are all male and in their twenties. She does not act as the archetypal boss but rather coordinates with the group as just another team member. Her firm specializes in making commercials and promotional videos with an animation orientation.  She cherishes on becoming a highly successful industrialist in the near future and provides jobs to as many unemployed young men and women as possible. She strongly feels that the educational structure in the country is not geared to make the youth employment ready.

Interesting Facts about Sindhuja Rajamaran

She had participated in a promotion jointly sponsored by Velammal International School of Global Warming and ExNora for making animation films.  She made a short 2D animation movie all by herself working on the project for 10 hours successively and this record feat earned her an entry in the coveted ‘Guinness Book of World Records’.

She exploited animation as a medium when she made a film on the tsunami that ravaged her home state to create awareness about global warming. She has also made a movie on the deadly disease of TB. She got considerable help from her father for making the animation movie on TB where he drew upon his extensive experience of working as a health inspector. She is also reputed to have designed digital greeting cards for Barack Obama, the US President. She is presently busy in planning and creating promotional campaigns for commercial behemoths in Tamil Nadu including Pothys and Joyalukkas. She vividly remembers being made the brand ambassador of Corel after the territory manager of this company (who was visiting her father) was visibly impressed by her illustrations using Corel.
