Indian economy has seen vast developments in all areas, automobile, telecommunication, textile, mining, BPO, KPO, agriculture, retail, food and beverages, etc. After succeeding various hurdles that came in the way through significant investments, dedication and hard work it has now become the fastest growing economy. Like other sectors, Indian automobile industry has also witnessed a rapid growth and technological change.
This has led to change in the human resource policies and practices. More and more labour is being employed, proper training is provided to the new joiners; also there are development programs for the employees to integrate the technological change.

Maharashtra
The state has a well developed automobile sector employing more than 40% human resource of the total workforce employed in the automobile industry in India. The state is having a large number of skilled labour and other infrastructure facilities like wide network of suppliers and vendors which results in increased productivity.
The state is attracting domestic players and foreign players in the automobile sector. The major automobile and auto component players like Fiat, Skoda Auto, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Kinetic Engineering, Bharat Forge, Cummins John Dierre, and Daimler Chrysler are established in the state and are contributing to the growth of state.
At present automobile manufacturing companies in Maharashtra account for 40% of the total number of automobiles manufactured in the country. Nashik, Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur are the cities in the State with maximum number of automobile and auto component units.
Andhra Pradesh
The state's automobile sector is growing at a fast rate and has more than 20 auto-component manufacturing companies providing employment to more than 20,000 people. Automobile leader Mahindra & Mahindra has established its manufacturing unit with a capacity of over 10,000 units per annum at Zaheerabad, contributing to the growth of the country by providing employment to more than 12,000 people.
Haryana
Automobile and auto parts manufacturing are two of the key industries in the State. Haryana accounts for 50% of the total passenger cars and 2-wheelers manufactured in the country. Market leader Maruti Udyog has its significant presence in the State along with Honda Motors, Hero Group, Yamaha Group and Escorts. Also, TVS is in the process of setting up its new manufacturing unit in the State.
Faridabad and Gurgaon, with their investor-friendly infrastructure facilities and abundance of skilled labour, house most of the automobile and auto component manufacturing units.
Karnataka
The State has been a lucrative center for foreign players and MNCs. Big players like Toyota, Suzuki, Volvo, Hitachi, Kometsu and Tata Motors have well established themselves in the State providing employment to about 3 lakh skilled auto professionals in the country. In addition to the established manufacturing units, more projects are coming up in the state, which will contribute to the growth of the state and increase the employment rate.
