Ashok Motors was set up by Mr. Raghunandan Saran, on persuasion of Pt. Nehru in 1948 in Madras (now Chennai). Soon the Ashok Motors collaborated with the British Leyland in 1955 and came to be known as the Ashok Leyland.
Ashok Leyland is the foremost commercial vehicle manufacturing concern in India. It transcends all other automotive manufacturers in India in the production of diesel engines, CNG engines, axles, AGBs, marine gear boxes, gear boxes, CNG buses, heavy duty and special vehicles and other key in-house components.

ACCL was promoted by Ashok Leyland and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) in the 1980's. It manufactures tippers, bus bodies,front-end structures(FES), tankers, aluminum containers, semi-trailers, full trailers, container trailers, ladle carriers, running gears for LPG tankers, OB vans, energy vans, car / truck / tractor carriers, bottom dumpers and container side loaders.
Lanka Ashok Leyland
Lanka Ashok Leyland was established as a joint venture between Ashok Leyland and the Government of Sri Lanka in 1982. It assembles the chassis and builds bodies at its factory located at Panagoda, near Colombo.
Hinduja Foundries
It was incorporated in 1959 and at present, it is the largest automotive jobbing foundry of India,
serving Ashok Leyland Ltd., Hyundai Motor India Ltd., Maruti Udyog Ltd., Hindustan Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Simpson, Caterpillar, Swaraj Mazda and Tafe.
IRIZAR-TVS
Established in 2001, it is a joint venture between Ashok Leyland, TVS & Sons Ltd and IRIZAR. It aims to manufacture luxury coaches of international standards to meet the rising demand in the country.

ALPS assists the investment entities of the Hinduja Group, implements projects, provides professional services to help international companies interested in Indian projects, develops projects related to power generation, airport construction, air cargo transportation, roads and associated infrastructure, conducts feasibility studies, looks after appraisals and the development of joint ventures also.
