Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Limited is a joint venture between Bajaj Auto Limited and Allianz AG of Germany.
Bajaj Allianz General Insurance came into existence on 2nd May 2001, when it got certification of Registration from the Insurance and Regulatory Development Authority. Bajaj Auto has a share of 74%, whereas Allianz has the remaining 26%. In the very first year, the company made a strong position for itself in the industry and was reckoned amongst the top private insurers. The premium income of the company as on 31st March 2006 was Rs. 1285 crores, whereas the profit after tax made was Rs. 52 crores.
