BioIndustrial Sector, also known as White Biotechnology, uses cells or
components of cells like enzyme, organic amino acids and yeast to produce industrially useful products. Enzymes, which constitute a major segment of this sector, are used in industrial processing of starch, distilleries, alcohol, textile & garments, leather processing as well as for supplementing healthcare products.

At present various companies in this sector are Advanced Biochemicals, Biocon India, Maple
Biotech, Bhat Biotech, Novozymes, Artemis Biotech and others. Indian enzyme products are also supplied to Europe and other Asian countries.
