In 1993, Shantha Biotechnics limited was founded by Dr. K I Varaprasad and Dr. Varaprasad with the aim of manufacturing efficient and cost effective therapeutics and vaccines. It develops and manufactures health care products using biotechnology techniques. Its products are supplied to markets of Africa, Asia-Pacific, CIS and Latin America as well as to UNICEF and PAHO.
The company's R&D center at Shantha is equipped with the latest instruments and other facilities. It focuses on the development of proteins and vaccines, generic biologicals and novel therapeutic antibodies.
