Indian mining and minerals industry is one of the rapidly developing sectors. The metallurgical and mineral industries in India provide a foundation for the country's industrial growth and development. India has a vast base of metals and minerals. It includes all the atomic minerals, metallic minerals and non-metallic metals, ferrous minerals and non-ferrous minerals, industrial minerals and fertilizer minerals, i.e. minerals like gold, silver, diamond, iron, chromium, copper, lead, zinc, aluminium, mica, bauxite, graphite, tin, platinum, cobalt and limestone.
The metals, minerals and mining is one of those sectors in the Indian economy which attract the highest FDI. The Indian mining industry currently employs over 1.1 million people.
