NEW DEHLI: The Indian government has vowed to improve the regulatory approval process for larger projects. Currently, it can take years for a large sized project to be granted approval to begin construction. The government has asked the department of industrial policy and promotion to identify the largest-scale projects awaiting approval and proceed to work with the governmental agencies that are involved to streamline the approval process. The pending projects include power plants, ports, and high-speed train corridors. Typically, these infrastructure projects produce a significant number of construction related jobs. So with the improvement of the approval process a larger number of construction related jobs will surface much sooner. In addition, a streamlined process will be a lot more attractive to investors who finance construction projects.
