Sheep and goats are raised in Hamgyng and Kangwn provinces. Various researches and agricultural development projects with improvised technology have been implemented for increasing agricultural production. New kinds of chemical fertilizers and pesticides are processed to enhance better production. Several irrigation projects have been set up to enhance the irrigation facilities in the agricultural field.
Rice is on of the major cultivating crops in South Korea. A major portion of the South Korea's domestic harvest is its rice-producing sector. Forty percent of the farm revenue depends on the rice grain production. The government's rice support program acquired US$1.9 billion record in 1986. The Korean government has collaborated with the Swiss government to develop goat milk, cow milk and related dairy products.
