South Korea is developing as a growing biotechnological and pharmaceutical hub of east Asia. As the ongoing players are performing remarkably newer entrants are entering the pharmaceutical market. The South Korean pharmaceutical industry is collaborating with foreign companies with due support from the South Korean government. At present there are seventy nine pharmaceutical companies in South Korea. Most of the South Korean phamaceutical and biotechnology companies are involved in making generic drugs. Korea Drug research Association established in 1986 promotes joint projects between pharmaceutical giants and educational institutes. Today the output in the pharmaceutical industry is promising with bulk pharmaceutical exports to the various countries of the world.
