There is a huge demand of nurses to staff nursing jobs in Birmingham. More than 250 students annually graduate The University of Alabama (UAB) School of Nursing's bachelor's and master's programs. Recently, the University's School of Nursing began utilizing a $1 million gift for a master's program that will add 45 new nurses annually to meet the nursing industry's shortage of nursing professionals. Programs like this are expected to ease the burden of nursing job vacancies. Estimates of the Alabama Hospital Association indicate that demand for nurses will increase 25% over the next five years.
